Alexandre Lacazette made a scoring return to the Arsenal team when he notched a penalty against Stoke City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Frenchman missed Premier League matches against Manchester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford after picking up a knee problem at the start of February.

Lacazette returned to training during the international break, however, and was a second-half substitute against Stoke at the Emirates Stadium.

The club’s record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had already scored from the spot when he unselfishly stepped aside to allow Lacazette the opportunity to net a 90th-minute penalty against the Potters.

It would be fair to say that the 26-year-old has had his problems at Arsenal this season, but he remains a popular figure with the club’s supporters, who were delighted to see him return to the field at the weekend.

Lacazette will now be targeting a starting role against CSKA Moscow in the Europa League on Thursday night.
